“ODE TO JOAN – UNTITLED 1958” was painted for an exhibition entitled “GREAT ARTISTS STEAL” for which the artist was to do work like their favorite artist. One of my most favorite is Joan Mitchell. I am a big fan of her large bold dramatic abstracts. This one is after work fairly early in her long career.
